Nation High School Adds 8,000 New Students in Past Six Months
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) April 7, 2010 -- Nation High School, a leading provider of GED alternatives and high school diploma services, today announced that it has reached a milestone of enrolling 8,000 new students within the past six months. Thanks to tuition being made more affordable than ever in recent months, a record number of students have been able to continue their education and get on track to further their careers.
Last year, President Barack Obama took steps to encourage people to go back to school who were unemployed or looking to reenter the workforce. Nation High School responded to this call to action by reducing overall tuition costs by up to 60 percent, waiving fees for registration, study materials and technology. National High School also introduced a $120 grant to help students who are struggling financially receive their online GED or fully accredited high school diploma.
"Increased competition for jobs makes having a quality education critical in today's economy," said Steven O'Neil, school board president at Nation High School. "We've taken steps to make it even easier and more affordable for teenagers and adults to complete their high school education online, and we're thrilled that so many people have heeded President Obama's call to action and taken the steps to continue their education."
In September 2009, Nation High School launched its Diploma for Self-Study Program, an online off-campus program that allows students ages 14 and older to take up to 16 courses online and earn a high school diploma based on their own schedule. Students can also earn a diploma by taking a standard test through the Nation High School Diploma for GED Alternative Program and on the basis of their prior learning experience through the Nation High School Diploma for Prior Life Experience Program. The school also offers support to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
